EBERT WELLS
Folding armchair
Circa 1960
Teak and rope
Height: 75 cm. Width: 60 cm. Depth: 70 cm.

This folding chair by Ebert Wels, probably designed between the late 1950s and early 1960s, embodies the sensible elegance of mid-century design: a perfect balance between aesthetics, comfort and functionality.

British designer Ebert Wels, active in the 1950s and 1960s, offers here an alternative design to Hans Wegner's “Rope Chair” PP‑512 (1949), a classic of modern furniture.

Design & Use
• Compact & practical: folds easily, can even be hung on the wall for space-saving storage
• Mid-century comfort: low seat (approx. 33–37 cm from the floor), ideal as an indoor chaise longue or for a balcony/lounge design
• Elegant shape, braided paper rope, minimalist aesthetic: a design that is both utilitarian and warm.
